Winds of Change
You've probably noticed that I haven't been blogging quite as much in the past few months. There are several reasons for that. . . one I'm more busy. As we've settled into life, our family has become involved in more activities here in the compound. But another reason is that my blog has attracted more attention than I ever anticipated.
I started this blog specifically for the grandparents. We were moving far away, and I was committed to posting pictures and trying to keep family up to date with what is going on. Eventually I decided to start sharing my blog posts with my friends through Facebook as well, and then somehow it just started to take off.
I've started receiving emails, messages and comments not just from family and friends, but also from random strangers, including Saudi locals. Now don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful feeling to know that people are interested in and appreciate what you are saying. It's always nice to know that someone is 'listening'. I was even contacted by a website who asked me to collaborate with them and write content specifically for their website. If you visit ship-stuff.com and take a look at the bottom of their home page you can follow a link to some of my writing.
But with this attention, I started to think more carefully about each post and exactly what I was saying, the pictures I was posting of my kids. . . and I've decided that I don't want that for a family blog. So, I've started a new blog:
Winding My Way
I plan to keep this blog (Living in Saudi) more family-specific. . . pictures of the kids' birthdays and things like that. The Winding My Way blog will be more about general life in Saudi, with just a little family mixed in. Similar to what this blog has been to date. So depending on why you like this blog, you can follow me here, over at the other one, or both.
Thanks SO much for all the comments and support that everyone has given me. I'm excited to continue to share my experiences with you through my blogs.

Are you going to make this one private? I am fascinated but what your family is doing and enjoy reading.
ReplyDeleteFor now I'm not planning on making this one private, although the possibility is under consideration. :)
